Senior Credit Officer

Hall Structured Finance (HSF), a private commercial real estate lender that provides construction, and bridge financing to real estate owners and developers on real estate projects located throughout the United States, is seeking a Senior Credit Officer to help achieve its business goals. HSF’s loan program emphasis is providing 1st mortgage construction financing to the multifamily and hotel sectors, and 1st mortgage bridge financing program targeted towards hotel projects. HSF has approximately $1 billion in loans and growing. The Senior Credit Officer position is a new position due to the growth and expansion of HSF.

The Senior Credit Officer will be responsible for the risk management of the Company’s loan portfolio and loan documentation of new loans, providing support and direction to loan originators in overseeing underwriting policies and procedures. The Senior Credit Officer will work side by side with HSF’s senior management, asset managers, financial analysts and compliance officers. This position has a high degree of exposure to Hall Group’s executive management team.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities: Primary job duties include overseeing the credit approval process for prospective new loans, ensuring that the information provided to the Loan Committee allows for the accurate risk assessment of new loans, and working in conjunction with outside legal counsel in negotiating loan documents for prospective loans.

 

Specific duties will include:

  • Establishing and documenting standard credit underwriting practices for each product type and loan program undertaken by the Company.
  • Working with loan originators, financial analysts and compliance officers in the performance of due diligence and loan underwriting.
  • Working with loan originators, financial analysts in preparing financial projections and analysis related to the projects securing perspective new loans.
  • Working with loan originators, financial analysts in the preparation of comprehensive written internal loan recommendations for presentation and review by HSF’s Loan Committee.
  • Working with financial analysts in the management and assessment of existing loan portfolio in identifying risks.
  • Going on site visits to assess collateral properties, competitive sets, and borrower sponsorship as part of due diligence and underwriting of prospective new loans.

 

Education and/or Experience: 10+ years relevant work experience with demonstrated track record in underwriting real estate projects and/or loans with a bank or other financial institution and direct experience in negotiating loan documents Familiarity and experience with multifamily and / or hotel projects a plus. Degree in finance, economics, and/or accounting.

 

Competency: Ability to balance varied projects, and possess strong analytical, research, verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Excel, Word, and Power Point.
