Josh Clary
Josh Clary joins HSF as Executive Vice President, Senior Lending Officer, where he works closely with the origination team to evaluate, structure, and advance new loan opportunities through initial screening, underwriting, Loan Committee approval, and closing. In this leadership role, Clary helps structure and price transactions and ensure opportunities are appropriately sized, positioned and prepared for successful execution through the firm’s underwriting and Loan Committee process, while helping refine the firm’s overall lending and credit evaluation approach.
Clary brings more than 15 years of experience in real estate finance and structured credit, with expertise across the full capital stack including senior debt, mezzanine financing, preferred equity and complex structured solutions. Prior to joining HSF, he served as Western Regional Head for the Ground Lease REIT at Montgomery Street Partners, where he focused on development and bridge opportunities and worked with sponsors, brokers and lenders to design executable capital structures incorporating leasehold debt and ground lease capital.
Earlier in his career, Clary spent more than a decade at Goldman Sachs as a Senior Vice President in the Real Estate Finance Group, where he originated, structured and closed more than 100 transactions totaling approximately $2.8 billion in loan proceeds across CMBS, balance sheet and mezzanine financings. In that role, he also evaluated and helped structure SASB, bridge and construction financings across a broad range of asset types.
Clary earned an MBA with a concentration in Investments from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University.
