HALL Structured Finance is excited to announce Bryan Smith’s promotion to Director of Capital Markets. Since joining the company in 2019, Bryan has been instrumental in strengthening lender relationships and expanding our capital markets strategy. With a strong background in commercial real estate and financial analysis, he’s ready to take on this next chapter, driving growth and new opportunities for HSF.

In this Q&A, Bryan shares insights into his career journey, his vision for this new role, and what excites him most about the opportunities ahead.

Can you share your career journey so far at HALL and HSF?

I joined HALL in 2019 as a Financial Analyst for HSF’s originations and underwriting team. Early in my first year, I had the opportunity to transition into the Capital Markets group, where I’ve been ever since. This move allowed me to expand my expertise, take on new challenges, and deepen my understanding of the industry, all of which I’ve truly enjoyed.

What excites you most about your new role as Director of Capital Markets?

I am excited to continue strengthening our existing lender relationships while also forging new connections. Through upcoming conferences, industry events, and networking opportunities, I look forward to expanding our reach, collaborating with key stakeholders, and exploring new avenues for growth in the Capital Markets space.

How do you plan to apply your past experiences to drive success within the Capital Markets team?

Prior to joining HALL, I worked at several other firms in various roles within the commercial real estate industry. These experiences allowed me to develop a strong foundation of technical skills and industry insights, which I’ve been able to leverage in my time at HALL. By applying these skills, whether in financial analysis, deal structuring, or market strategy, I aim to contribute to the Capital Markets team’s success and help drive strategic growth.

What do you see as the primary priorities in your new role?

My main priority in this role is to support the execution of HALL Group’s Capital Markets strategy. This includes managing and strengthening banking relationships, sourcing and placing loans, and negotiating loan documents to ensure optimal financial outcomes. By focusing on these key areas, I aim to contribute to the company’s overall growth and success in the market.

On a personal and/or professional level, is there anything specific you’re eagerly anticipating in 2025?

So far this year, I have attended the CREFC Conference in Miami and the MBA Conference in San Diego, both of which were highly productive. Looking ahead in 2025, I’m excited to attend various industry events, including the NYU Hospitality & Real Estate Conference in June, a great opportunity to reconnect with existing relationships and build new ones.
